Lilliput Church of England Infant School

Love, Respect, Serve

reception

In EYFS at Lilliput C of E Infant School, our aim is for all children to build resilience, ambition and integrity. We know the importance and understand that building happy and secure relationships with children and their families at the early stage is key to how we can maximise their school experience for each and every child. We recognise each child as a unique individual and we celebrate and welcome all to our school community. We believe the ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of fundamental skills, key knowledge, concepts and key values. We adapt our approach, tailor activities, and experiences, to meet the individual needs and interests of each child every year to match cohorts needs, supporting their progress and development across all areas of learning.

We engage in happy and positive learning experiences and believe that this is key to enable children to develop a lifelong love of learning. We have a strong belief that community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate local traditions, call on the local community to come in to inspire, go on local school trips and learn new skills to enable the children to take an active role in events throughout the year. Throughout their time in EYFS, the children develop a sense of belonging to our school community so they feel ready for transition to Year One. We work closely in partnership with parents and carers to encourage independent, happy learners who thrive in school and reach their full potential from their various starting points. We look forward to welcoming you to our school!

We will:

  • Understand and follow children’s interests and provide opportunities throughout our EYFS curriculum to support learning, consolidate, deepen knowledge and ensure all children meet their next steps.
  • Offer stimulating and well-resourced play-based learning environments, where children can explore, investigate, engage in purposeful play indoors and outdoors.
  • Promote an inclusive environment, embrace diversity and inclusion. Respect cultural differences, values, and celebrate diversity. Ensure equal access to learning opportunities and offer appropriate support, so every child can participate fully and make progress, regardless of their background, abilities, or additional needs.
